Dr. Maria Dungo is a board-certified hematologist, oncologist, and internal medicine physician with extensive experience treating the full breadth of oncologic care, as well as benign and malignant hematologic conditions. She believes that the best medical care begins with listening to each patient’s individual needs - recognizing that patients play an essential role in their own healing. She strives to create an environment where patients feel safe, heard, and empowered to actively participate in their treatment decisions.

Dr. Dungo earned her Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento before completing a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Oncology.

In caring for her patients, Dr. Dungo looks beyond symptoms and diagnoses to understand the whole person. She considers how treatment may affect a patient’s daily life, personal responsibilities, and overall well-being, while also recognizing the importance of addressing emotional and existential concerns that may accompany a cancer or blood disorder diagnosis. Ultimately, Dr. Dungo believes that individualized care, grounded in listening, communication, and partnership, provides the foundation for the best possible outcomes.
