Megan P. Karoly, PA-C, is a Surgical Physician Assistant at The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, with a minor in Neuropsychology, from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania. Megan then completed her Master of Medical Science at the Yale University Physician Associate Program in Connecticut.
Megan’s clinical interests include melanoma and other cutaneous malignancies, with a particular interest in the surgical management of skin cancer and the multidisciplinary care of oncology patients. Her interest in skin cancer developed over several years as a medical assistant in dermatology prior to PA school, where she worked alongside dermatologists in the evaluation and treatment of a wide range of skin conditions and skin cancers. During her training at Yale, her interest in cutaneous oncology grew through her clinical rotations in dermatology, hematology-oncology, and plastic surgery with a focus on cutaneous oncology. Her master’s thesis, for which she was awarded honors, focused on the use of photodynamic therapy for the early prevention of actinic keratoses and skin cancer in solid organ transplant recipients.
Megan was drawn to surgical oncology because it combines procedural medicine with the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients throughout their cancer journey. She enjoys working closely with patients during what can be a particularly challenging time in their lives and prioritizes patient education and communication so that they understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and what to expect throughout their care.
