Research & Clinical Trials

Clinical trial programs at The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute offer people with cancer a chance to get the best care while helping to make improvements in the care available for future patients. Participating in oncology clinical trials continues the chain of giving initiated by prior patients with cancer and helps oncologists answer many questions that remain unanswered in cancer therapy.  With the help of patients participating in cancer clinical trials, we will achieve our goal of effectively treating and ultimately curing cancer.

Recently, the identification of  predictive oncology biomarkers in common carcinomas has led to significant progress in personalized therapy, higher response rates, and clinical benefit.  These genes, genetic mutations, proteins and signaling pathways have produced paradigm shifting targeted therapies with clear  survival benefit.  The results from clinical trials utilizing these therapies have resulted in FDA approval of these groundbreaking therapies as standard in oncologic care.   By interrogating individual tumors we can block genes that ultimately have led to the cancer

Progress in effectively blocking the Braf mutation has produced clear survival benefit in metastatic melanoma and the approval of Vemurafenib in August.  With the identification of other genetic mutations in this system, the use of multiple drug targets in this tumor system may lead to additive increase in survival.   Conversely, in patients not harboring the Braf mutation, identification and targeting of  genes like nras can lead to long-term clinical benefits

The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute has established an international reputation for developing new cancer therapies, providing the best in experimental and traditional treatments, and expertly guiding and training the next generation of clinicians.  We are committed to bringing innovative therapeutic options to all of our patients with cancer.  As part of this commitment, our cancer clinical trials program has been expanded to include Experimental Therapeutics (Phase I) and Drug Development programs.  With this commitment strengthened, we can continue to make advances in cancer care.

Through our oncology clinical trials program, The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute continues our ongoing commitment to offer our patients with cancer excellence in research and patient care.  We offer multiple cancer clinical trials in a wide range of cancerous tumors.  On behalf of The Angeles Clinic and Research Institute, we thank you for considering these important therapeutic options and look forward to helping you.
